District Science Museum, Anand, Gujarat

Peach Prime Consultancy is designing and curating the District Science Museum at Anand – part of Gujarat’s District Science Centre programme under the Department of Science and Technology. Our scope spans the complete visitor experience: storyline development, exhibit design and curation, gallery theming, interactive and immersive experiences, and end-to-end AV integration. The Centre is organized as three thematic galleries – Bio-Science & Environmental, Physical Sciences & Innovation, and a Regional Gallery – housing ten signature exhibits that tell the scientific story of the Milk Capital of India.

The curatorial vision: to nurture scientific curiosity and celebrate Anand’s distinctive identity – its ecology, agriculture, geology and industrial achievements – fostering pride in the district’s role in India’s White Revolution while connecting local heritage to universal science.

A Museum Curated from the Charotar Belt

Anand sits at the heart of the Charotar region – some of Gujarat’s most fertile land – and the museum’s curation grows directly from it. Soil science is taught through the district’s own black cotton soils, food technology through the innovations that made its dairy industry world-famous, geology through the aquifers beneath its farms, and trade through the Gulf of Khambhat that connected this region to the world. At the centre of it all stands the story every visitor already knows and no museum has told scientifically: how a farmers’ cooperative in Anand changed the way a nation drinks milk.

Gallery 1: Bio-Science & Environmental

  • Anand’s Forest Guardians: Ecosystem dioramas of the region’s wildlife – migratory birds, lions and wild asses – with an AR wildlife station, a dynamic food chain demonstration and before-and-after deforestation models that make conservation tangible.
  • Soil Stories – The Heart of Anand’s Agriculture: Black cotton soil and the region’s soil diversity explored through interactive soil samples, a live soil-testing station, a soil microscope, crop maps of the Charotar belt and composting demonstrations.
  • Culinary Innovations – Science Meets Flavor: Anand’s food technology legacy – vacuum sealing, Tetra Pak and modern packaging science – brought alive through processing demonstrations, interactive kiosks and taste-testing stations.
  • Geological Tapestry of Anand: Stratigraphic columns, rock touch displays, a volcano simulator and a working aquifer model – with AR simulations revealing the Earth processes beneath the district’s fertile plains.
  • Dairy Delight – The Science of Milk: From cattle breeds to milk chemistry: a 3D milk molecule display, a 360-degree virtual dairy farm walk-through, a scaled-down milk processing line and the story of preservation science behind every packet of milk.

Gallery 2: Physical Sciences & Innovation

  • Kinetic Canvas: Mechanics and motion brought alive through Newton’s cradle, inertia labs, momentum games, action-reaction rocket launches and demonstrations linking physics to the transport infrastructure of the district.
  • Radiant Spectrum: Optics and light explored through prisms, fiber optics, photography, medical imaging and laser communication – the science of seeing, from the human eye to modern diagnostics.
  • Natural Equations: Mathematics hidden in nature – Fibonacci spirals in sunflowers, fractals and symmetry – with golden ratio explorers and physical and digital puzzles connecting maths to flora, fauna and landscape.

Gallery 3: The Regional Gallery – Amul & the Gulf of Khambhat

Two signature exhibits anchor Anand’s identity. The Milk Hub – AMUL curates the cooperative dairy revolution led by Amul and Dr. Verghese Kurien: supply-chain models tracing milk from village society to national brand, a branding gallery, tasting kiosks and multimedia farmer success stories that put the district’s people at the centre of the narrative. The Gulf of Khambhat – Gateway to Trade widens the lens to the maritime commerce that shaped the region, with interactive trade-flow maps, artifact displays and stories connecting Anand’s industries to world markets, past and present.

Experience Design & AV Integration

Every exhibit follows the design rule we apply across the District Science Centre programme: nothing is only for reading. AR wildlife stations, 360-degree virtual dairy farm walk-throughs, working process models, tactile rock and soil displays, taste-testing kiosks and multimedia story corners run on a coordinated AV backbone – projection, immersive audio, interactive kiosks and digital timelines – designed together with the exhibit content so technology serves the story. The system architecture lets operators refresh content, add languages and stage seasonal programming without redesigning the galleries.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the District Science Museum, Anand?

A district science centre in Anand, Gujarat with three thematic galleries and ten signature exhibits – spanning ecology, soil science, food technology, geology, dairy science, mechanics, optics, mathematics in nature and the region’s trade heritage.

What is Peach Prime’s role in the project?

Peach Prime Consultancy is delivering museum design and curation: exhibit design, storyline development, gallery theming, interactive experience design and AV integration.

What makes the exhibits interactive?

Visitors walk a 360° virtual dairy farm, operate a milk processing line, test real soils, explore wildlife in AR, trigger a volcano simulator, launch rockets, bend light through prisms and fiber optics, and taste the results of food technology at sampling kiosks.

Why does a science museum tell the Amul story?

Because the White Revolution is applied science at national scale: microbiology, food preservation, cold-chain logistics and cooperative economics. Curating it in Anand – where it began – connects the district’s proudest story to the scientific principles behind it.
