Peach Prime Consultancy is designing and curating the District Science Museum at Mehsana – part of Gujarat’s District Science Centre programme under the Department of Science and Technology. Our scope spans the complete visitor experience: storyline development, exhibit design and curation, gallery theming, interactive and immersive experiences, and end-to-end AV integration. The Centre is organized as three thematic galleries – Bio-Science & Wellness, Physical Sciences & Innovation, and a Regional & Cultural Gallery – housing ten signature exhibits where universal science is taught through Mehsana’s own health, biodiversity, water heritage and craft traditions.

The curatorial vision: a knowledge hub where science meets community – linking Mehsana’s health, biodiversity, geographical and cultural identity with universal scientific principles, and empowering visitors with interactive learning, health awareness and pride in local heritage.

A Science Centre Where Visitors Measure Themselves

Mehsana’s museum begins with the most familiar subject of all: the visitor’s own body. The wellness-led curation reflects the district’s public health priorities – heart, lungs and brain explained not through static models but through live self-measurement, from heart-rate monitors and lung capacity tests to digital wellness trackers. From there the museum widens outward: to the district’s ecosystems, its evolutionary story, the physics of the universe, the materials of its industries and the crafts of its artisans – every gallery connecting what visitors learn to how they live.

Gallery 1: Bio-Science & Wellness

• Human Landscape – Understanding the Body: Cardiovascular, respiratory and nervous systems explored through body-explorer screens, a heart rate monitor station, a breathing challenge and personal wellness trackers – preventive healthcare made personal and measurable.

• Mehsana’s Natural Treasures: The biodiversity of Thol Lake Bird Sanctuary and the River Pushpavati brought indoors through a VR birdwatching experience, interactive biodiversity maps, an aquatic ecosystem simulator and conservation games.

• Evolutionary Journeys: Natural selection, genetic variation and speciation told through Mehsana’s own semi-arid flora and fauna – with mutation and speciation simulators, tactile plant adaptation stations and a 3D virtual botanical garden.

• Terrain Tales of Mehsana: The district’s hilly terrains, alluvial plains and groundwater story explored through sediment layering activities, water flow simulations, groundwater recharge models and a VR terrain hike.

Gallery 2: Physical Sciences & Innovation

• Quantum Quest – Mysteries of the Universe: Relativity, quantum mechanics and frontier physics made graspable through holograms, wave-particle duality experiments, superposition demos and quantum computing simulations.

• Materials Marvels: Metals, ceramics, polymers and composites with real samples and hands-on nanotechnology and smart material demos – each linked to the industries of Mehsana itself.

• Mind Games in Mehsana: Mathematics as pure play – logic puzzles, Sudoku stations, algebra challenges and problem-solving relays that build critical thinking and creativity in young visitors.

• Aquatic Wisdom of Mehsana: The stepwells, reservoirs and rainwater harvesting systems that sustained North Gujarat for centuries – experienced through virtual stepwell tours, interactive conservation models and a hands-on rainwater collection demo.

Gallery 3: Regional & Cultural Gallery

The museum closes with Mehsana’s living craft heritage, curated as applied science. Pottery Heritage celebrates kala mati pottery and its sustainable bhansa (cow-dung) firing process with pottery wheel demonstrations, virtual kiln tours and working artisan studios. Patola Marvels & Textile Traditions showcases the legendary double-ikat Patola sarees of Patan alongside Mashru fabrics, Aari embroidery and Chakla embellishment – with live weaving demonstrations, tactile fabric stations and artisan-led workshops that support local livelihoods while teaching the geometry, chemistry and material science hidden inside every craft.

Experience Design & AV Integration

Every exhibit follows the same design rule we applied across the Centre: nothing is only for reading. Real-time biometric sensors, VR birdwatching and terrain hikes, holographic physics demos, touchscreen simulators, tactile stations and live artisan demonstrations are woven together on a coordinated AV backbone – projection, immersive audio, interactive kiosks and digital wayfinding – designed alongside the exhibit content so technology serves the story. The architecture of the AV system also lets operators refresh content, add languages and stage seasonal programming without redesigning the galleries.
